What is GriefShare?

GriefShare is a 13-week grief support program for people grieving the death of a family member or friend.  In a GriefShare group you will find others who understand the pain of the death of someone you love.  In a GriefShare group, you’ll learn helpful, practical information that will help you recover from the pain of grief and loss and you’ll have the chance to talk about your experiences.  Between the weekly sessions, you will have a workbook for personal study and to write down things you’ve learned.

GriefShare is a program open to Immanuel members and those in the community.  You are welcome to begin attending the GriefShare group at any session. Each session is “self-contained,” so you do not have to attend in sequence. You will find encouragement and help whenever you begin. You will be able to continue with GriefShare through the next 13-week cycle and view any of the videos you have not seen.

Immanuel will be offering “Surviving the Holidays” twice this fall: Sunday, November 17, from 2:30 to 4:30 PM; and Sunday, December 8, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. This is open to Immanuel members and to non-members. Pre-registration—which is not required—is available in the Surviving the Holidays section at GriefShare.org .

What is Surviving the Holidays?

The approach of the holidays stirs up many emotions—excitement , anticipation, joy—but for those who are grieving the loss of a loved one, the feelings might be more like dread.

GriefShare’s “Surviving the Holidays” is a 2-hour program that offers practical recommendations for preparing for the holidays, assures the participants that their concerns are not unique, and gives suggestions on how they might honor family traditions and remember their loved ones while grieving.
